The optical belt-weigher detects a volume flow contact-free at the discharge point of the feeder. The measurement data are saved in the sensor head and transmitted wirelessly to a computer terminal (PDA, PC...)
Why optical belt-weighers?
Conventional belt-weighers "weigh" the belt with the product and link the weight information with the transport speed of the conveyor belt. This gives a mass flow in t/h and t absolute. In order to obtain good accuracy of measurement with this technique certain conditions must be fulfilled.
- sufficient belt length with input and output stages (min. 3 – 4 m)
- relatively constant belt tension and constant conveyor belt gradient
- adequate applied load on the belt where there are low flow rates or low product waste density.
In mobile sifting and crushing plants, wood shredders and in the conversion of mixed refuse the conditions cited above cannot be met for a gravimetric belt-weigher
In these cases the optical belt-weigher offers a fail-safe and accurate alternative.
